Bring your love of mahjong to the winery! James River Cellars is partnering with Four Bam Birds Mahjong to offer a fun afternoon of learning, guided play, and open play for mahjong enthusiasts of all experience levels.

 

Whether you’re brand new to the game or looking to sharpen your skills, there’s an option for you:

Mahjong 101 — $60
New to mahjong? Start here! This beginner-friendly lesson introduces you to the fundamentals of the game, including the basics you need to get started playing.

 

Mahjong 102 / Guided Play — $60
Ready to take your game a little further? Mahjong 102 is designed for players with some experience who want to build confidence and improve their play with guidance from an experienced instructor.

 

Open Play — $30
Already know how to play? Join us for open play and enjoy some friendly mahjong with fellow players. Open Play is for experienced players who have previously taken a mahjong lesson and have their own current NMJL card.

 

Your Mahjong Journey

New to the game? Start with 101. Once you’ve built your foundation, come back for 201/Guided Play to practice and strengthen your skills. Once you’re comfortable playing independently, join us for Open Play and keep the games going!

We’re excited to build a community of mahjong players at James River Cellars, with opportunities to learn, practice, and play together throughout the year.

 

Your mahjong ticket covers your selected class or play session. Wine, beer, and food are available for purchase separately from James River Cellars throughout the event, so grab a drink, settle in, and make an evening of it! To purchase a ticket, select that date from the series list.
