Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a reservation?

Reservations are not required to visit our winery. The only time we suggest you make a table reservation is when your party is larger than 10 people. To make a table reservation or to plan a gathering for a large group at our winery, email our Event Team at winery@jamesrivercellars.com.

Are pets allowed on the property?

Well-behaved, leashed pets are allowed on winery grounds. We allow pets inside our tasting room as long as they remain on a leash and are not a disturbance to other customers. Pets are only allowed on the first floor of our building and outside.

Are children welcome?

We remain family-friendly. Be mindful of others and keep an extra close eye on children to ensure their safety and the safety of others visiting. Children must remain with their parents at their table at all times. We ask that you bring games and activities for the children and not have them wander the grounds or near the golf course next door.

Do you serve food?

Our winery does not have a restaurant located onsite. We have various pre-packaged snacks available for purchase in our Tasting Room, including cheese, crackers, salami, etc. Guests are also allowed to bring their own outside food to the winery. If we are hosting a food truck on the day that you visit, we just ask that you purchase something from the truck if you also bring in your own food.

What is the difference between a flight and a tasting?

Our tastings are done standing at the bar and allow you to try 8 different wines. Our Tasting Room associates will guide you through the pre-selected tasting as they pour your 8 different 1-ounce pours.

Flights are our version of a self-guided tasting. Flights can be taken anywhere on the property and allow you to go through different wines at your own pace. You can choose one of our preselected flights of 4 wines, which contain 2-ounce pours, or you may choose any 4 wines that you would like to try from our wine list.

Tastings and flights are both the same volume of wine (8 ounces) and the same price for $16.

Can I bring beer or other outside alcohol to the winery?

Per ABC law, any outside alcohol is not permitted on our property. Those who do not comply are subject to fines.

Am I allowed to bring decorations for my gathering?

Decorations of any kind are not permitted unless you have reserved/rented a space at our winery. To book a reservation, contact our Event Team at winery@jamesrivercellars.com.
