Join us to learn more about Virginia wine and the wine making process!

This Wine 101 class is taught by Dr. Mitzi Batterson, owner of James River Cellars, who brings both expertise and approachability to the experience. Guests will enjoy a guided tasting that includes at least four 2-oz pours while learning how wine is made—from grape to glass, along with insight into Virginia’s wine industry and the history of James River Cellars.

Along the way, Dr. Batterson will share practical tasting tips, explain what influences flavor and style, and offer fun, easy-to-understand wine facts designed to build confidence and spark curiosity. This class is ideal for beginners, casual wine drinkers, or anyone looking to better understand and enjoy what’s in their glass, all in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
