Our white wine grapes are carefully grown in our Hanover County Vineyards. After harvest we gently press the fruit and ferment the grapes into wine in our modern Glen Allen winery. The fresh fruit flavors are preserved by chilling the wine and carefully controlling the fermentation process. Some of our wines are aged in barrels to marry the complexities of the wine with the toasted French or American oak. Online Wine sales are temporarily being handled by phone. Give us a call.
Chardonnay is a classic white wine grape grown all around the world but originally made famous in the Burgundy and Champagne regions of France. Our Chardonnay is crisp and fresh with apple and lemon aromas. Perfect with a variety of cheeses and superb with Salmon or Chicken. Chardonnay takes oak well, and our 2003 Reserve Chardonnay is fermented and aged in oak. The oak treatment helps express the vanilla overtones in its aromas and flavor. Chardonnay also ages well in the bottle, though it will not age as long as reds. The Reserve Chardonnay is put through a malolactic fermentation process which tempers the crispness and brings out a rich, buttery taste. Perfect for grilled seafood! Chardonel 'Chardonel' resulted from the crossing of Seyval and Chardonnay in 1953 at Cornell University. The wine offers an interesting combination of flavors from each parent grape variety. Every vintage year can hold surprises in how those flavors and aromas develop. After tasting it we were not surprised that it won the following honors for our 2001 harvest. Currently Chardonel is our best seller - Try it with pizza or Asian cuisine.
Vidal 'Vidal' is one of the most popular French-American Hybrids in Virginia. Its popularity comes from the beauty of the long amber clusters of vibrant grapes and the zesty flavor of the wine it makes. Try it chilled and refreshing by itself or with spicy foods. Hanover White 'Hanover White' a sweet blend of Gewurztraminer, Chardonel and Cayuga. Almost like a dessert wine, but light enough to enjoy with your meal. Very fruity with an apricot bouquet. Try it with light fair or enjoy with friends on your next picnic.
